The Wonder of Grey– A Chest Gets a New Look

I had a wonderful friend that invited me over to her farm back in the fall.  They had several old pieces that had been inherited and been sitting in storage for a long time.  She said it was time to part with them and I was the lucky one who got to come out and see (and buy) them.  Boy was I excited when I got there.    There was a whole storage area full of great treasures.  I was extremely glad I brought the van that day!  She even had them all out for me to “shop”.  I picked up several of the pieces.  Oh who am I kidding.  We packed the entire van full of goodies!  I can’t pass up quality pieces and these were sure beautiful quality pieces!

I always get the question, “Where do you find such cool pieces?”.  Well it seems that the longer I do this, the more that just comes to me.  I have so many people call me before they get rid of a piece of furniture or dealers that let me know the moment something comes along that I would love.  I have really found some very neat things lately.  Here is a picture of some of the wonderful goodies from the farm.

Farm finds

Great little table and some cool windows that had greenish paint on them.

Little chest with drawers

I have no idea what this piece is but look at those little drawers!  Please someone tell me what this is! Haha.

Drumroll……

So here is the mahogany chest in the storage unit in its “before” condition.

And the after…

This is my version of a little Restoration Hardware look with Morning Fog by Sherwin Williams.  I gave it a couple of good coats and then mixed up a dark grey glaze .  I  coated  it with glaze and sealed it up.

I actually already sold this one!  Hooray!

I would love to know what you think!
