The Porch Gets a Facelift– Sunroom Here We Come

I know I’ve said it before but one of my favorite features of the brick cottage we are working on is the little porch on the right side of the house!  Do you remember the porch of Flip House #2?  You might have totally blocked it out of your memory because it was sooooo bad!  It had become a completely useless space.  It was dark when you walked out of the house because the metal green awnings hung down so low.  It had a dirty concrete floor and plywood attached to the bottom third instead of screen.  Oh and the whole back was gone.  No door, no screen, no anything.  It was just downright ugly but I just saw great potential.  Just so you remember, here is what it looked like before.

Can you say cave?  The whole house was rather sad but this porch took the cake!

So do you want to know what the plans are for the cute little porch?

Without a doubt, I am the most excited about the statement this little porch will make.  From the moment I walked out there, I knew that the porch had to become part of the interior living space.  It needed to be a sunroom.  Something the new owners could use every single day rain or shine.  To achieve this, we will make some interior changes and obviously some exterior changes.  Let’s see where we are right now.

Along with cutting down the magnolia tree that was intruding on the power lines, we started by taking off the big green metal awnings.  It’s like the little porch went “Ahhhhh.”  It’s already 10 times better, don’t you think?

I mean what in the world is the plywood at the bottom?  I just don’t understand some things!

Okay the plywood needs to go ASAP!

This little porch will be a great addition to this house.  The new owner has to invite me over for sweet tea or wine in the sunroom!  Hint hint!Porch demo side flipWell that’s it right now for the porch.  Stay tuned to the blog for more details of how we will incorporate the porch into the living space!

It’s going to be so perfect as a sun room! Can’t wait to see it.
